Healthy You Tip!

Don’t Wait to Prevent Osteoporosis

Bone density increases gradually until age 30, when it starts declining. It really begins to fall after menopause (for women) or age 70 (for men). Fortunately, what you do to strengthen your bones today will pay off later. Doctors recommend calcium, Vitamin D and 30 minutes of daily weight-bearing exercise such as walking or dancing. Be sure to avoid smoking, caffeine, alcohol and carbonated beverages. They actually remove calcium from your bones.

Call 610-402-CARE to find a doctor who can help with osteoporosis or to schedule a DEXA scan (painless osteoporosis test).
